If there's one thing St. Lucia does exceptionally well, it's combining incredible food with some of the most beautiful dining settings in the Caribbean. Whether you're looking for a romantic dinner overlooking the Pitons, a beachfront lunch with your toes in the sand, or a more authentic taste of the island, there is no shortage of great restaurants to choose from.
One of my favorite parts of visiting St. Lucia was getting to experience restaurants both on and off property. While the resorts offer some incredible dining options, I highly recommend venturing out and exploring some of the island's restaurants. Here are a few that deserve a spot on your itinerary!
1. Dasheene at Ladera Resort
If you're looking for a restaurant with an unforgettable view, Dasheene should be at the top of your list. Perched high above the island, this restaurant offers incredible views of the Pitons and surrounding Caribbean Sea. The atmosphere is romantic and upscale without feeling overly formal, making it a wonderful option for a honeymoon dinner or special occasion. The Caribbean-inspired menu and incredible setting make this one of the most memorable dining experiences on the island. Make sure you make. Reservation during peak tourist season.
2. Saltwood at Sugar Beach
For those staying at Sugar Beach, Saltwood is a must. This is one of the resort's signature fine-dining restaurants and offers a beautiful setting for an elevated evening out. Between the exceptional service, elegant atmosphere and incredible surroundings, it is a great choice for a special dinner. I would definitely recommend making a reservation during your stay, especially if you're celebrating something special. There’s also a cocktail bar connected to the restaurant that is a must go to spot for watching sunsets.
3. Treetop Restaurant & Bar
Treetop is one of those restaurants that makes the experience just as memorable as the food. Located in Soufrière, this unique restaurant is surrounded by lush tropical greenery and offers a beautiful setting for dinner. The menu features a blend of Indian and Caribbean influences, making it a little different from some of the island's traditional resort restaurants. This is a great option if you want to venture off property and experience something unique. They are closed certain days of the week so make sure to check that before you go, and request a reservation online.
4. Mango Tree Restaurant
Mango Tree is another beautiful dining option to add to your St. Lucia itinerary. With its tropical surroundings and relaxed island atmosphere, it is a lovely place to slow down and enjoy a meal. It's a great reminder that some of the best parts of traveling are finding restaurants that allow you to soak in the destination rather than simply sit down for dinner. This is more casual and would be great for lunch.
5. Rabot Restaurant at Hotel Chocolat
Rabot Restaurant is an experience in itself and one I would absolutely recommend making time for. Located on Hotel Chocolat's cacao estate, the restaurant incorporates the property's chocolate-making heritage into its menu. The setting is surrounded by tropical greenery, with beautiful views of Petit Piton. From the unique food to the incredible scenery, this is much more than your typical dinner reservation. Even if you're not staying at Hotel Chocolat, it's worth looking into a visit.
6. The Cliff at Cap Maison
For an elegant evening with beautiful ocean views, The Cliff at Cap Maison is worth considering. The restaurant combines French and Caribbean influences in an upscale setting overlooking the water. It's particularly lovely for sunset dining and would make a great addition to a honeymoon itinerary.
7. Orlando's Restaurant & Bar
If you want to experience more traditional St. Lucian cuisine, Orlando's is a great place to start. Located in Soufrière, the restaurant is known for its locally inspired menus and creative approach to Caribbean cooking. It's a wonderful opportunity to experience flavors and ingredients that reflect the island's culture and culinary traditions.
8. Jade Mountain Club
Jade Mountain Club offers one of the most spectacular dining settings in St. Lucia. Known for its open-air architecture and breathtaking views of the Pitons, the restaurant feels like an extension of the island's natural beauty. The elevated Caribbean-inspired cuisine and incredible surroundings make it a particularly special choice for honeymooners or anyone looking to plan an unforgettable evening.
9. Jacques Waterfront Dining
Located in Rodney Bay, Jacques Waterfront Dining is a great option for those staying in the northern part of the island. The restaurant offers French-inspired cuisine with Caribbean influences in a beautiful waterfront setting. If you're looking to get away from resort dining for an evening, this is a lovely place to consider.
10. The Naked Fisherman
For something a little more casual, The Naked Fisherman is a great beachfront option. Located at Smugglers Cove near Cap Maison, this restaurant offers a laid-back atmosphere where you can enjoy a meal with your feet practically in the sand. It's especially appealing for lunch after a morning spent enjoying the beach.
11. Martha's Tables
Sometimes you want something a little less formal, and Martha's Tables is a great option for experiencing local Caribbean cooking. Known for its home-style approach and traditional island flavors, it's a nice change of pace from some of the island's more upscale restaurants. If you're interested in experiencing more of the local food scene, this is one to look into.
12. Bonté Restaurant & Bar at Sugar Beach
Another great option for those staying at Sugar Beach is Bonté. This is a much more relaxed dining experience than Saltwood and is perfect for a casual lunch or a meal after spending the day on the beach. The beachfront setting makes it easy to settle in, enjoy a cocktail and take advantage of the beautiful surroundings without having to leave the resort. Their jerk chicken and coleslaw is to die for!
A Few Tips Before You Go
Make reservations ahead of time. Some of the island's most popular restaurants fill up quickly, particularly during peak travel seasons. If you're planning a honeymoon or special trip, I would recommend arranging dinner reservations before you arrive.
Consider transportation when making plans. St. Lucia is a relatively small island, but don't let that fool you. The roads are winding, and getting from one side of the island to the other can take longer than expected. Ask your hotel about arranging transportation, especially if you plan to enjoy cocktails with dinner.
Don't limit yourself to resort restaurants. While St. Lucia has some incredible resort dining, I highly recommend venturing off property for at least a few meals. Between the local restaurants, unique dining experiences and incredible views, there's so much to explore.
At the end of the day, some of the best meals in St. Lucia aren't just about what's on the plate. They're about the views, the atmosphere, the people and the experience of being somewhere as beautiful as this island. Make a few reservations, leave room for a spontaneous lunch or two, and enjoy every minute of it!
