Where to Stay at Atlantis Bahamas: A Guide to Choosing the Right Resort

If you're planning a trip to the Bahamas, chances are Atlantis Paradise Island is somewhere on your radar. With its massive water park, incredible pools, private beaches, casino, restaurants and endless activities, Atlantis is practically its own destination. One of the biggest decisions you'll make when booking your stay, however, is choosing which resort tower to call home.

Atlantis has four main accommodations: The Royal, The Coral, The Cove and The Reef. While they're all part of the same overall resort, each offers a slightly different experience, price point and location. The good news? They're all within approximately a 15-minute walk of one another, so regardless of where you stay, you'll have access to the larger Atlantis property.

My recommendation is to choose your accommodations based on how you plan to spend your vacation. Are you traveling with kids and want to be steps away from the water park? Looking for a quieter, more luxurious suite-style experience? Or hoping to enjoy everything Atlantis has to offer without spending quite as much on your room?

Here's a breakdown of each option to help you decide!

1. The Royal: Best for Families & Being in the Middle of Everything

If you're looking to be in the heart of the action, The Royal is my top recommendation. This is arguably the most central of all four accommodations and puts you within easy reach of just about everything Atlantis has to offer.

One of the biggest advantages of staying here is convenience. You can take the elevator down and find yourself just steps away from the water park, casino, restaurants and many of the resort's main attractions. If you're traveling with children or plan on spending most of your vacation enjoying everything Atlantis has to offer, that location is hard to beat.

The Royal is also typically a middle-of-the-road option when it comes to pricing. You're paying for the convenience of being centrally located without necessarily stepping into the highest price category.

I particularly recommend The Royal for families, first-time visitors and anyone who wants to spend less time walking between attractions and more time enjoying the resort.

Best for: Families, first-time visitors, casino access and anyone who wants to be in the center of the action.

2. The Coral: Best for Budget-Friendly Stays

If you're looking to experience Atlantis without spending quite as much on accommodations, The Coral is worth considering.

Historically, The Coral had a reputation for feeling a little more dated than some of the other towers. However, following its recent renovations, the property has received an updated look and now offers a much more refreshed experience.

While it isn't quite as centrally located as The Royal, The Coral has some convenient perks of its own. It backs up to the water park and is located near the marina, making it a great option for those who enjoy being closer to that side of the property.

For travelers who plan on spending most of their time out exploring the resort rather than in their room, The Coral can be a great way to save on accommodations while still enjoying everything Atlantis has to offer.

Best for: Budget-conscious travelers, families looking to save on accommodations and guests who don't mind being slightly removed from the main resort center.

3. The Cove: Best for a Luxury, Suite-Style Experience

If you're looking for a more elevated Atlantis experience, The Cove is the one I'd recommend.

The Cove is a standalone building that feels a little more removed from the hustle and bustle of the main resort. It's a bit farther from the water park and casino, but that separation is part of what makes it appealing.

The overall atmosphere is more upscale, with suite-style accommodations, quieter hallways and a more exclusive feel. It's also home to some elevated dining experiences, making it a great option if you want a little more luxury throughout your stay.

Another fun perk? The Cove has been known to attract celebrity guests, so don't be surprised if you happen to spot a familiar face during your vacation!

Of the four accommodations, The Cove is typically the most expensive. However, if your priority is a more luxurious, quieter experience and you don't mind paying a premium, it's worth considering.

Best for: Couples, honeymooners, luxury travelers and anyone who prioritizes an elevated experience over being directly in the middle of the action.

4. The Reef: Best for More Space & a Little Extra Luxury

Think of The Reef as a middle ground between The Royal and The Cove.

Like The Cove, The Reef is a standalone building that sits a little farther away from the main resort attractions. It isn't the most convenient option if you're planning to spend every day at the water park, but it's still within walking distance of the rest of Atlantis.

What makes The Reef stand out is its accommodations. Many of the rooms feature kitchenettes and offer more square footage than a typical hotel room. This makes it especially appealing for families, longer stays or anyone who appreciates having a little more room to spread out.

I think The Reef is a great option if you want something a little more special than a standard hotel room but don't necessarily want to spend as much as you would at The Cove.

You still get the Atlantis experience, but with a little more space and a quieter atmosphere to come back to at the end of the day.

Best for: Couples, families, longer stays and travelers who want additional space without paying the highest price for accommodations.

So, Which Atlantis Resort Should You Choose?

The truth is, there isn't one wrong choice when it comes to staying at Atlantis. All four properties give you access to the larger resort, and they're close enough to one another that you can enjoy the attractions regardless of where you book.

My biggest recommendation is to think about what you want your vacation to look like before choosing your room.

Here's how I would break it down:

    •    The Royal: Want to be in the middle of everything? This is your spot. Especially great for families and anyone who wants quick access to the water park, casino and restaurants.

    •    The Coral: Want to save a little money? This is a great budget-friendly option with updated accommodations and convenient access to the marina and water park.

    •    The Cove: Want the full luxury experience? Choose The Cove for upscale accommodations, quieter surroundings and an elevated resort atmosphere.

    •    The Reef: Want more space and a little something extra? The Reef offers suite-style accommodations and kitchenettes without necessarily reaching The Cove's price point.

At the end of the day, I'd choose based on your budget and how you plan to spend your time at Atlantis. If you're going to be at the water park from morning until evening, The Royal's location is hard to beat. If you're looking for a more relaxing getaway with a little luxury, The Cove or The Reef might be a better fit.

No matter which tower you choose, you're getting access to one of the most activity-filled resorts in the Caribbean. And with everything Atlantis has to offer, there's plenty to keep you busy long after you've checked in!
