One of the best parts of visiting Nassau is getting to experience the food scene. From fresh-caught seafood and traditional Bahamian conch to upscale restaurants with beautiful waterfront views, there is something for every kind of dining experience.
Whether you're staying at Atlantis, exploring Paradise Island or venturing into Nassau, I recommend making time for a few meals outside of your resort. Some of the best experiences come from getting out, trying something new and enjoying the local atmosphere.
Here are six restaurants I'd recommend adding to your Nassau itinerary, ranging from casual spots to elevated dining experiences.
1. The Bearded Clam: Best for Casual Bites & Watching Sports
If you're looking for somewhere laid-back to grab a bite, have a drink and catch a game, The Bearded Clam is a great option. This is the kind of place you visit when you want something casual without worrying about making a formal dinner reservation.
It's a fun spot to relax, enjoy a casual meal and take in a little island atmosphere. If you're traveling with a group or looking for somewhere to unwind after a day in the sun, this is a good one to keep in mind.
Best for: Casual lunches, sports fans and an easygoing night out.
2. The Poop Deck: Best for Fresh Seafood & Waterfront Views
For fresh seafood and beautiful waterfront scenery, The Poop Deck is a Nassau staple worth visiting. One of the best parts of dining here is the setting. You can enjoy your meal while watching boats come in and out of the marina, making it a quintessential Bahamas dining experience.
The menu features seafood favorites, and it's a great place to enjoy a relaxed meal with a view. If you're visiting Nassau and want to experience a restaurant that captures the island's coastal atmosphere, I'd put this one on your list.
Best for: Fresh seafood, waterfront dining and a relaxed lunch or dinner.
3. DUNE at Four Seasons Ocean Club: Best for Elevated Dining
If you're looking for a truly special dining experience, DUNE at the Four Seasons Ocean Club is one I'd highly recommend. Located on Paradise Island, this restaurant combines an incredible setting with an elevated menu and beautiful ocean views.
The property itself is stunning, and the restaurant feels like an experience from the moment you arrive. Between the gorgeous surroundings, attentive service and an incredible menu, it's a wonderful option for a romantic dinner or special occasion.
This is one of those restaurants where you want to take your time, enjoy a cocktail and really soak in the experience. Even if you're not staying at the Four Seasons, it's worth looking into a reservation.
Best for: Romantic dinners, special occasions and upscale dining.
4. Solemar: Best for Beautiful Views & Exceptional Service
Another restaurant worth adding to your Nassau dining list is Solemar. If beautiful views and great service are high on your priority list, this is a wonderful option.
The atmosphere makes it a great place to slow down and enjoy a meal while taking in the surrounding scenery. It's the kind of dining experience that feels a little more special than your typical dinner out, without necessarily needing a big occasion to justify it.
Between the setting and attentive service, Solemar is a great addition to your Nassau itinerary.
Best for: Beautiful views, attentive service and a memorable dinner.
5. Café Martinique at Atlantis: Best for French-Inspired Fine Dining
If you're staying at Atlantis, make a reservation at Café Martinique. Located within the resort, this restaurant offers an elevated dining experience with French-inspired cuisine and an elegant atmosphere.
It's a great way to switch things up if you've spent several days enjoying the more casual restaurants around the property. The menu and setting make it feel like a special night out without having to leave Atlantis.
I'd especially recommend this for couples or anyone looking to plan a nicer dinner during their stay.
Best for: French-inspired cuisine, upscale resort dining and a special evening at Atlantis.
6. Mackenzie's Fresh Fish & Conch: Best for Local Seafood
You can't visit the Bahamas without trying some fresh fish and conch, and Mackenzie's Fresh Fish & Conch is a great place to do just that.
For a more local seafood experience, this is one to add to your list. Conch is a staple of Bahamian cuisine, and trying it fresh is part of the experience of visiting the islands. Whether you're a longtime seafood lover or trying conch for the first time, this is a great opportunity to experience a little more of the local food scene.
If you're looking for something less formal and more focused on fresh seafood, put Mackenzie's on your itinerary.
Best for: Fresh fish, conch and authentic Bahamian seafood.
A Few Tips for Dining in Nassau
Make reservations for the upscale restaurants. If you're planning to visit DUNE or Café Martinique, I recommend booking ahead of time, especially during busy travel seasons.
Don't skip the local seafood. While Nassau has plenty of incredible upscale dining, some of the best food experiences come from trying local favorites. Make sure conch is on your list!
Plan around where you're staying. Nassau and Paradise Island have restaurants spread throughout the area. If you're staying at Atlantis, some options will be much more convenient than others. Consider transportation when planning your evenings.
Mix casual and upscale dining. One of my favorite ways to experience a destination is to balance a few nicer dinners with casual local spots. Nassau makes that easy, and there's no reason every meal needs to be a formal affair.
At the end of the day, Nassau has a dining scene that offers a little bit of everything. Whether you're enjoying fresh seafood overlooking the marina, dressing up for an evening at DUNE or grabbing a casual bite and watching a game, there's something for every kind of traveler. My advice? Make a few reservations, leave room for some local seafood and enjoy experiencing the Bahamas one meal at a time!
