The Ultimate Guide to Atlantis Bahamas: Where to Stay, What to Do & Where to Eat

There are plenty of beautiful resorts in the Bahamas, but few offer quite as much as Atlantis Paradise Island. Sitting along the turquoise waters of Nassau, Atlantis is practically a destination of its own. Between the sprawling waterpark, miles of marine habitats, beautiful beaches, multiple hotel towers, incredible restaurants, and lively nightlife, you could easily spend an entire vacation here without ever needing to leave the property.

One of the things I love most about Atlantis is that there really is something for everyone. Whether you're planning a family vacation, a couples getaway, or simply want a resort where you never have to wonder what to do next, Atlantis makes it easy to fill your days with as much or as little as you want.

That said, with four different hotel options, dozens of restaurants, and more activities than you could fit into one trip, planning your stay can feel a little overwhelming. After visiting Nassau over the years, I've put together everything I'd want to know before booking a stay at Atlantis, from choosing the right hotel tower to the restaurants and experiences worth adding to your itinerary.

Where to Stay at Atlantis Bahamas

One of the first things to know when booking Atlantis is that not all of the hotel towers are created equal. Each has its own atmosphere, location, and price point, so choosing the right one can make a big difference in your overall experience.

The Royal: Best for First-Time Visitors and Families

If it's your first time visiting Atlantis, The Royal is where I'd start. This is the heart of the resort, putting you right in the middle of everything. You're steps away from the waterpark, casino, restaurants, and many of the property's main attractions. It's especially convenient for families who want easy access to the activities without spending half their vacation walking back and forth between their room and the rest of the resort.

The Royal is a great middle-ground option for travelers who want the full Atlantis experience without necessarily paying the premium for one of the more luxurious accommodations. If convenience is your biggest priority, it's hard to beat this location.

The Coral: Best for a More Budget-Friendly Stay

If you'd rather put more of your vacation budget toward dinners, excursions, and experiences, The Coral is worth considering. Located near the marina, this hotel offers a more budget-friendly way to experience Atlantis while still keeping you close to the resort's restaurants, shops, and attractions.

The Coral has undergone renovations, giving it a refreshed feel compared with its older reputation. It's also conveniently located near the waterpark, making it a practical option for families and anyone planning to spend most of their time enjoying the resort.

The Cove: Best for a Luxury Getaway

If you're looking for something a little more elevated, The Cove is my pick. This is Atlantis's more luxurious, suite-style hotel, offering a quieter and more sophisticated atmosphere than the main resort towers.

The Cove has its own beautiful pool area, upscale dining options, and a more private feel. It's a favorite for couples and travelers who want to enjoy all the excitement Atlantis has to offer but have somewhere a little more peaceful to retreat to at the end of the day. You may even spot a celebrity or two during your stay.

The trade-off is that you're farther from some of the main resort attractions, so expect a little more walking. Still, if you're celebrating a honeymoon, anniversary, or special occasion, I think The Cove is worth looking into.

The Reef: Best for Longer Stays and Extra Space

The Reef is another great option, particularly if you want a little more room to spread out. These accommodations have a more residential feel, with suite-style layouts, kitchenettes, and additional living space.

It's a little farther removed from the main action of Atlantis, especially the waterpark, but that can be a positive if you prefer a quieter environment. I also like that The Reef gives you the opportunity to enjoy a more spacious accommodation without necessarily paying The Cove's premium prices.

Ultimately, I'd choose The Royal for convenience, The Coral for value, The Cove for luxury, and The Reef for extra space.

Things to Do at Atlantis Bahamas

One of the biggest advantages of staying at Atlantis is that you never really have to leave the property to have a full vacation. In fact, I'd recommend giving yourself at least a few days to explore everything. Between the waterpark, aquarium, beaches, pools, casino, and marine experiences, there's more than enough to keep you busy.

Spend a Day at Aquaventure Waterpark

You can't visit Atlantis without spending time at Aquaventure. The massive waterpark is one of the resort's biggest attractions, with water slides, river rides, pools, and plenty of places to relax between adventures.

One of the most iconic experiences is the Leap of Faith slide, where you plunge through a transparent tunnel surrounded by sharks. Even if you're not usually someone who gravitates toward waterparks, it's worth experiencing at least once. I'd dedicate a full day to exploring Aquaventure rather than trying to squeeze it in between other activities.

Explore the Aquarium, Especially at Night

One of my favorite things about Atlantis is how the marine habitats are incorporated throughout the property. Rather than having one traditional aquarium, there are different tanks, lagoons, and underwater exhibits scattered throughout the resort.

The Dig is particularly impressive, with underwater exhibits designed around the lost city of Atlantis. You can spend quite a bit of time wandering through the different viewing areas and watching the marine life.

My biggest tip? Go at night. The tanks take on an entirely different look when they're illuminated after dark. It's such a pretty experience and a fun way to explore the resort after dinner when you're ready for something to do besides heading straight back to your room.

Play a Round of Mini Golf at Good Lies

If you're looking for something fun to do between pool time and dinner, head over to Good Lies. It's a fun mini golf experience and a nice change of pace from the typical beach and pool day. Whether you're traveling as a couple, with friends, or with family, it's an easy activity to add to your afternoon.

Visit the Casino and Stop by Moon Bar

Atlantis also has a lively casino, with everything from slot machines to table games. Even if gambling isn't really your thing, it's worth walking through to experience the atmosphere.

Between games, stop by Moon Bar for a drink. It's a fun place to take a break, enjoy a cocktail, and soak up a little nightlife without having to leave the resort.

Enjoy the Beach or One of the Many Pools

Sometimes the best part of a Bahamas vacation is doing absolutely nothing. Atlantis has beautiful beaches and more than 15 pools, giving you plenty of options to find your own little corner of paradise.

If you're staying at The Cove, take advantage of its more secluded pool and beach areas. And if you're willing to wake up early, head to Cove Beach for sunrise. It's a beautiful spot to watch the sun come up over the water and a much quieter way to start your day before the resort gets busy.

Swim With Dolphins at Dolphin Cay

For a memorable experience, consider booking an excursion at Dolphin Cay. The marine habitat offers opportunities to interact with dolphins and learn more about marine life. There are different experiences available, so you can choose what best fits your trip.

I'd recommend looking into reservations ahead of time, especially if this is something you know you want to do. These experiences come at an additional cost, so be sure to factor that into your vacation budget.

Snorkel or Snuba Through the Ruins

If you want to take your aquarium experience a step further, look into snorkeling or SNUBA in the Ruins Lagoon. You can explore the underwater setting inspired by the lost city of Atlantis while swimming among the marine life.

It's a unique way to experience the aquarium rather than simply viewing it from the walkways. It's definitely something I'd consider adding if you enjoy being in the water.

Make Time for the Mandara Spa

If you need a break from all the activities, make time for the newly renovated Mandara Spa. Atlantis has plenty to keep you busy, but sometimes it's nice to slow down and spend an afternoon relaxing.

Whether you book a massage after a long day walking around the property or make an entire afternoon of spa treatments, it's a great way to add a little extra relaxation to your vacation.

Where to Eat at Atlantis Bahamas

One thing Atlantis does exceptionally well is dining. There are so many restaurants across the property that you could eat somewhere different every day of your vacation. From elevated seafood dinners to casual poolside lunches, there is something for every mood.

My biggest piece of advice is to plan your dinners ahead of time. Some of the more popular restaurants book up, and you don't want to be left trying to find a table at the last minute.

Start Your Morning at The Dilly Club

Located in Marina Village, The Dilly Club is a great stop for your morning coffee. It's a cute spot to grab a coffee before heading out to explore the resort or starting your beach day. I love having an easy coffee stop that doesn't require committing to a full sit-down breakfast.

Fish by José Andrés: For an Elevated Seafood Dinner

If you're going to splurge on one seafood dinner, make it Fish by José Andrés. The restaurant focuses on fresh seafood and elevated Bahamian-inspired dishes, making it a great choice for a special night out.

My recommendation is to try the lobster mac and cheese. It's one of those dishes you'll be thinking about long after the trip is over. Whether you're celebrating something special or simply want a really good dinner, this is one I'd put on your list.

Paranza: For Italian Food and a Nice Night Out

For Italian food, Paranza is another dinner favorite. It's a beautiful setting for a nicer night out, and I would absolutely order the truffle rigatoni. If you're looking for a dinner that feels a little more special than your typical resort meal, this is a great option.

Sip Sip: For a Casual Lunch

When you're ready for a break from the pool, Sip Sip is a great option for a relaxed lunch. It's a nice place to sit down, enjoy a meal, and take in the island atmosphere without making the afternoon feel too formal.

Shake Shack: For a Quick Bite With a View

Sometimes you just want a burger and fries, and Shake Shack is perfect for that. One of the best parts is the aquarium views, which make even a quick lunch feel like part of the Atlantis experience.

Chop Stix: For Asian Fusion

If you're craving something different, Chop Stix is a great option for Asian fusion. I'd recommend trying the bao buns and dumplings. It's a good dinner choice when you want something flavorful but don't necessarily want traditional seafood or Italian.

Olives: For a More Relaxed Dinner

Olives is a good choice for Italian and Mediterranean-inspired food in a more casual setting. It's a nice middle ground when you want to sit down for dinner but aren't necessarily looking for a formal, elevated experience.

Claudio's: For a Casual Lunch

Claudio's is another good option when you want something satisfying without committing to a long, formal meal. Try the lobster shrimp cocktail or the nachos. It's a great spot to add to your rotation when you're ready for something different.

Shark Bites: For a Tropical Drink

Don't skip Shark Bites when you're spending the day at Aquaventure. This is where I'd go for a refreshing tropical drink. The piña coladas are especially good, and there's nothing quite like sipping one while enjoying a day in the sun.

One thing to remember when planning your meals: make reservations ahead of time for the restaurants you really want to try. The nicer dinner spots can fill up, and many have an elevated dress code. Bring a couple of nicer outfits so you're prepared for dinner rather than spending the evening in your pool clothes.

Tips to Know Before Visiting Atlantis

There are a few things I wish everyone knew before arriving at Atlantis. The resort is huge, and knowing a few little tricks ahead of time can make your stay much more enjoyable.

First, pack comfortable walking shoes. This is probably my biggest tip. You'll do a lot of walking between your hotel, restaurants, pools, beaches, and activities. Even if you plan on spending most of your time in a swimsuit, bring a comfortable pair of sandals or sneakers for exploring.

If your budget allows, request an ocean-facing room. You're in the Bahamas, after all! Waking up to beautiful blue water is part of the experience, and it's worth considering when choosing your room category.

Another helpful tip is that you can arrange to have groceries delivered to your room. If you forget essentials like water, snacks, or a few other necessities, you don't necessarily have to make a trip off property. This is especially helpful for families or anyone staying in one of the larger suites.

It's also important to know that Atlantis operates as a cashless resort. Bring a credit or debit card for purchases throughout the property. Pay attention to your receipts, too, since VAT and applicable service charges or gratuities may already be included. Check what's been added before leaving an additional tip.

At check-in, you'll receive a reusable Atlantis water bottle. Don't leave it sitting in your room! There are hydration stations throughout the property where you can refill it. It's especially convenient when you're spending the day at the waterpark or walking around exploring.

Finally, arrange your airport transportation ahead of time. The drive from Nassau's Lynden Pindling International Airport to Atlantis is typically around 20–30 minutes, depending on traffic. I'd recommend arranging a hotel car or private transfer before arriving. It's a nice way to start your vacation, especially when you can step off the plane into an air-conditioned vehicle and head straight to the resort.

Is Atlantis Bahamas Worth It?

My answer is yes, especially if you're looking for a vacation where you can have a little bit of everything without needing to leave the resort.

What makes Atlantis so special is the variety. You can spend your days at the waterpark, exploring the aquarium, lounging on the beach, enjoying a nice dinner, or grabbing cocktails at the casino. There really is something for every type of traveler.

I particularly recommend Atlantis for families who want plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained. It's also a great option for couples who enjoy a lively resort atmosphere and want the convenience of having everything in one place.

However, if you're looking for a quiet, secluded Caribbean getaway where you'll spend most of your time at a peaceful beach, Atlantis might not be the best fit. It's a busy, active resort, and that's part of its appeal.

If it's your first time visiting Nassau, Atlantis is one of the places I'd absolutely consider. Just make sure you choose the hotel tower that fits your travel style, plan a few dinners ahead of time, and leave yourself enough days to enjoy everything the property has to offer.

It's one of those destinations where the resort itself becomes the vacation.
